Two Animal Lovers. One Big Mission: Caring for Pets Like Family.
Walk through the doors of Lilydale Vet Centre, and you’ll quickly notice something.
There’s laughter. Warmth. Familiar faces. And a team that genuinely lights up the moment a wagging tail or nervous whisker walks through reception.
And right in the middle of that warmth? Alice and Layla.
Two vet nurses with huge hearts, a love for animals that started young, and the kind of energy that makes both pets and people feel instantly at ease.
For Alice, it all began on her grandparents’ farm.
Cows. Cats. Dogs. Open paddocks. Dusty boots. The kind of childhood where animals aren’t just around you — they become part of who you are.
“I basically grew up there,” she shared with a smile. “It was really nice.”
For Layla, her journey started through volunteer work with Seeing Eye Dogs Australia. With family already involved, caring for animals was woven into her life from day dot.
And honestly? You can hear it when they speak.
Not polished. Not rehearsed. Just real.
The kind of people who laugh mid-interview because they’re enjoying the moment too much to pretend otherwise. And that’s exactly why clients love them.
More Than a Job — It’s the People, Pets, and Purpose
Ask Alice what her favourite part of work is, and her answer comes fast:
“Seeing all the animals and the clients… and working with the team and Miranda.”
Simple. Genuine. Full of heart.
Layla agrees.“The people at work are amazing,” she said. “And especially our clinic cat, Squishy.”
Of course, Squishy got a mention.
If you’ve visited Lilydale Vet Centre before, you’ve probably seen the fluffy supervisor casually strolling through reception like she owns the place. Because honestly… she probably thinks she does.
But underneath the laughs is something bigger. Both Alice and Layla deeply care about the people behind every lead, carrier, and collar.
They know your pets aren’t “just animals.” They’re family.
And whether it’s a nervous puppy visit, a senior pet cuddle, or simply helping someone feel heard during a stressful moment, they show up with kindness every single day.
And Their Favourite Dog Breed?
That question caused chaos. “That’s hard,” Layla laughed.
“I love them all,” Alice admitted.
But after some very serious debating, a few favourites finally slipped through.
Golden Retrievers. Shepherds. Cattle dogs.
Big personalities. Loyal hearts. A little bit cheeky.
Honestly? Sounds a lot like Alice and Layla themselves.
At Lilydale Vet Centre, veterinary care is about more than medicine. It’s about connection.
And people like Alice and Layla are a big reason why so many pet parents walk through our doors feeling anxious… and leave feeling supported, understood, and genuinely cared for.
