Why did you choose to become a veterinary nurse?
Nurse Emily’s passion for animals has been active since she was a child. Growing up she had a diverse array of animals, such as emus, dogs, guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits and horses. In high school, vet nursing was suggested to Emily and she has never regretted that decision and loves the feeling she is making a difference in an animal’s life in a positive way.
Do you have any pets at home?
Belle is a black and white Maltese cross. She is a sassy and loving ball of fur and hair. Bam is a black and tan Kelpie. He is a very high-energy, very loving boy and like his mum, he loves small animals, especially rabbits. Captain feather sword is a great English angora rabbit. He is a grumpy old man who loves sitting in the sun.
I never wanted to be anything but a veterinarian. There never was another answer. Always: “I want to be a vet” Teachers laughed about it, possibly because it was more regarded unlike today, an occupation for men. I remember when I was really pushed to give a second choice during career planning in school, I told the teacher that I maybe should be become an actress. I never got asked again to have a plan B.
