Ever Heard of Laser Therapy for Pets? Discover The Gentle Light That’s Changing Pet Recovery

A Soothing, Drug-Free Way to Heal Pain, Inflammation, and More

Laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), is changing the way we support healing in pets. It’s especially helpful for those living with chronic pain, arthritis, injuries, or recovering from surgery.

It’s gentle. It’s drug-free. And pets love it.

This non-invasive treatment uses targeted red and near-infrared light to reduce pain and ease inflammation. It also promotes deep tissue healing without sedation, stress, or downtime.

What Exactly Is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy delivers specific red light wavelengths deep into the tissues. These stimulate your pet’s cell components (especially the mitochondria) to stimulate and increase the production of ATP, which:

    • Reduce inflammation
    • Speed up tissue repair
    • Relieve both acute and chronic pain
    • Improve circulation and mobility
    • May decrease scarring and post-surgical recovery time

The science is real—and it’s already being used successfully in human medicine, too.

Two Dogs Wearing Laser Goggles During A Treatment Session—Laser Therapy Supports Recovery From Surgery And Soft Tissue Injuries.

What Happens During a Session?

Your pet gets to wear cute safety goggles (we call them “doggles”), and so do you! A handheld probe is gently applied to the affected area for about 5 to 15 minutes.

There’s no pain, no sedation or anesthesia, and no stress—just a warm, calming sensation. Many pets completely relax or even doze off during treatment.

You can stay with them the entire time, and it’s completely safe for both dogs and cats—even senior pets and those with anxiety.

What Conditions Can It Help With?

Clinical studies have shown that laser therapy can effectively support a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Spinal pain or Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
  • Soft tissue injuries (Muscle strains, sprains, or tears)
  • Ear infections and skin inflammation
  • Post-surgical wounds and abscesses (e.g., desexing, cruciate repair)
  • Tooth extractions and gum inflammation

It’s also great for pets who can’t tolerate certain medications or who need extra support recovering after surgery.

How Safe Is It?

Laser therapy is extremely safe when applied by trained veterinary staff.

We avoid using it over known cancer sites, the eyes, or the uterus during pregnancy, but otherwise, it’s a low-risk, high-benefit treatment option.

And because you stay with your pet during their treatment, it’s a great option for nervous or anxious animals too.

Why We Love It

Laser therapy offers something truly special—it doesn’t just mask symptoms; it actively supports the body’s ability to heal.

Pain relief can be seen in just one session, and repeated treatments build on each other for long-term support. Most of all, pets feel better—and that’s why we use it every day.
